Brass Band Day and Kilfenora Ceili Dancers

Ennis Brass Band Enrolment for Beginners Class

 Wed 10th October 2012 7.30pm   at Ennis  Community College

            There is no charge for tuition or lessons
  Here is what we did today


We worked on a new rhythm today


   **NEW **Rhythm 2 
                                          Kil-     fen-      or--    a      Cei      li        Dan  -cer

These little notes are called quavers  not to be confused with these snacks

  Exercise    How many syllables in your name . Can you clap the rhythm of your name 

2 We worked on our bow holds .  Remember  Engine driver looking ahead .

3 We had fun with our rhythm  1 Win-ter-tim-in Rus-sia   We split into boys versus girls teams  . Mr Corbett's class were great at this   (Gloria, Olivia Ethan , Cody, Manek)


4 We played Foxtrot pizzicato

5 KNOW THE CODE We learned how to recognise D and A on the stave

6 We listened to a march played by the Ennis Brass Band and conducted it  (Down Up)


Nicola was our leader from Ms Griffin/ Leahy's class. We welcomed Ms Regan today


We looked at the trumpet. How many valves (buttons) does a trumpet have?   Can you remember the other instruments we named all members of the brass family . Which one didn't have any valves (Hint -slide)

Look Two Hands! New note E

Today's programme . 

Foxtrot
Toreador's March
Rock You D
Wintertime in Russia 
First Finger Riff  
Scary Tremelo

We began today by using one hand to place our violins in position because our right hands are busy  holding  the bow.  We revised our two note pizzicato tunes Foxtrot and Toreadors March .

We did some work on bow hold . Here are three things to remember .

Bow Hold 
Thumb bent 
Fingers well over
Little finger in the circle
 D
All classes began working on first finger riff. We put first finger down on D string to make new note E
